Civil Engineering Portfolio · London

Building engineering knowledge through real academic projects.

I'm Rochak Lamsal, a third-year Civil Engineering student at the University of Roehampton. Rochak Lamsal Portfolio presents selected coursework and practical experience in structural design, surveying, AutoCAD and fluid mechanics.

About

Learning engineering through practical work.

Rochak Lamsal Portfolio is my civil engineering portfolio. It brings together genuine university work in technical drawing, structural calculations, laboratory investigation and field surveying.

I use this portfolio to show the engineering tasks I have completed and the practical skills I am continuing to develop.

Structural analysis & design

Structural Design Coursework

Academic structural work covering load paths and the design/checking of structural elements.

  • Steel beam design for a removed load-bearing wall
  • Masonry bearing and concrete padstone design
  • Reinforced-concrete slab design
  • Timber floor joist and masonry wall checks
  • Frame analysis and moment distribution

Surveying

Closed Traverse Survey

Practical closed traverse work near Roehampton Library using a total station and reflector prism.

  • Set up and levelled the total station at survey stations
  • Recorded angles, distances and instrument heights
  • Helped calculate Northing, Easting and Reduced Levels
  • Worked with traverse closure and error adjustment

Levelling

Levelling Survey

Field and calculation work using levelling methods to determine and interpret elevation differences.

  • Auto-level setup and field measurements
  • Rise and Fall method
  • Height of Collimation method
  • Reduced-level calculations and levelling profiles

Fluid mechanics

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

Laboratory coursework investigating engineering fluid behaviour through experimental work and calculations.

  • Bernoulli principle investigation
  • Hydraulic modelling of flow over a broad-crested weir
  • Head–discharge relationship and discharge coefficient
